Currently Happening & FIle this under WTF?

So obviously this has been under a bit of a standstill if not an outright fucking slumber. This is of course, due to time. I have a large file folder on my shelf, brimming with notes for Dragon breath , Vomting Dragon and vairous uspplement, adventures, and etc. There is soooo much there, it pisses me off to no fucking end ot to be able to work on it. Hell I even have 3 pencilled pages ready for inks there.

SO I SIT HERE STEWING TO FUCK over not working on this, but currently my hours are filled, and even sleep right now seems to be a bit of an option with the current workload I’m taking on.  Between Zombie Years, Creature Entertainment, and various Freelance work, I have no time. And It’s not that I couldn’t squeeze it in like a Drug Mule, it’s that I want to HAVE the time to do it. I want to be able to really make it as kick ass as i see it, and if I don’t and it happens to come out like shit, well then I would really be mad at myself.

When I get to it, it’ll be beautiful.

Till then, hold on, and no worries, you’ll probably some preliminaries hit my DeviantArt account soon, and maybe even a change of name, here and there (mostly over coincidences like this, that I hope won’t suck) but also the expansion on the idea later.

All in due time, he tells himself, all in due time.

So now i’m going to go smoke a cig, and scream mentally at this wall for a bit, and hopefully soon, we will realize DRAGONBREATH together.

Keep rollin’ them dice…

The Zombie Years Premiere this Wednesday the 19th!

MIAMI, FL  January 19, 2009 – This Wednesday, come see Juan Navarro’s newest Webcomic Book endeavor “Zombie Years Premiere, with an 8 page preview and loads of extras at ZombieYears.com!

Zombie Years takes place in a near future Miami Florida, where the sky has fallen, the Gods have fought, Jesus Wept, and the snake has eaten his tail. Humanity if a bug on the windshield, and the sky is wearing down the cities.

The world has ended, but you still gotta eat.

The survivors of the tragedy now try to get along, the daily struggle to survive is the routine and the rule, and everyone watches for the The Fever: a maddening virus that drives people insane, eventually dying from it ….and then coming back.

“It’s just one of those day-dreams put into a story” says series Creator Juan Navarro, “After watching endless Zombie flicks and reading various survival horror, you begin to wonder how you and your won would test in such an element. Miami would be perfect setting for this, and I think it will be fun to explore the full idea of the Survival Horror scenario with Latino slant to it. Plus some Cuban jokes help too!”

Zombie Years will update every Wednesday every week!

“Don’t sweat the petty things and don’t pet the sweaty things”

Alright so as you can see things seemingly screeched to a halt here on the blog. Well, that’s true as all the 9 hells, but not off the blog. Off the blog I’ve been jumping around more than a Blink Dog on Crystal Meth.

Now Originally this blog was to be a support site, with supplements and little things here and there for Dragonbreath, a fantasy webcomic I’m currently working on. In that time I decided to stretch my legs and have a go writing extra material here and there and in that got caught up with deadlines.

I hate Deadlines. They are my favored enemy.

I like working with a buffer, a long list of work in front to give me time to develop what will be coming and jumping the gun had just put me into too much crap to do that.

So Dragonbreath isn’t stopped, not at all, I’m working on it as I type with ink covered hands, it’s needing to get finished up and “Buffered” so as to work smoothly.

I’m imagining an August or September opening but right now their is a change up happening over at WCN so we’re kind of waiting on that too. heck it’s halting the work on Zombie Years and Vigil too, and those have already allotted plenty of pages and such.

NPC Thurdays: A slew of characters

Still working out the kinks here and there with the script for Dragonbreath, but if you see here I’m starting to put all the character together, the casts that will play a part of Mermoz and Ridlee adventures.
I hope to create character Portraits for people to use too. What do you guys think, FULL BODY or just head shots? What do you guys prefer?

Delayed Fireball Friday! 5.13.2008

Hey I guess that spell had a 20th level caster, huh?

……

Alright shitty joke. On with the links:

+I was emailing with Vishon about his decision about making his own game system for his setting, Clashland, and I applaud his for it. The fact is that game system, to me, are a way to a means, and it just comes down to your DM/GM, players and setting to bring the fun out. Believe me, my gaming group has shitted themselves on straight D20 at times and it just end up being a dice roll to get that critical thing to be done. Vishon has some good ideas though, and I’m anticipating some awesome stuff soon.

+Got a head up fo some new feature on Gleemax on this review. Hopefully it will be the place for table top gaming folks ot get together plus that whole 4th edition D&D thing, right?

+Kieth Baker and4th Edition Eberron!

+Largest collections of Games PURCHASED? Wow……impressive….in a RPG gamer kind of way…

+ My kingdom for FEL LOTUS!

+It’s so true: They’re is a Murphy’s Law to DMing and D&D. My favorite it number No.8: Players will always try to kill the friendliest NPC.

+ooh, lots of 4th edition stuff right here

+Great gaming blog at  When Squirrels Attack!

+This is very cool: The Heroes and Monsters Blog is sort of a collection of classic movie heroes and viallains with stats. Now it ain’t no D&D sort of stats nothing to official but enough info for you to adapt characters and such to your game.

There’s more links than that, but I really have to get back to work. Heck, I wish I could write some better quips here and there too, but I have tog et to working on some NPCs for this Thursday!

(Side note: this thing was originally written on Friday the 11th but due to WordPress Maintenance, was setroyed halfway through, which originally had 22 links up! GRAH!)

Fireball Fridays 4.25.2008

At the Airport waiting to leave Rockford back to Miami, luckily, thank the Dark Seven, they have WI-fi so might as well take these two hours to write up some stuff.

+yeah I know yesterday was the first break form NPC Thursdays I’ve had here but unfortunately I’ve had a bunch of travelling to do and just didn’t let me really work on it. I’m gonna really aim for getting somthing up today, so be on the look out.

+You want maps? Maps, baby.

+ A little thing on Analog gaming

+I am workin on the maps for all the sites and sounds of Borel. Getting through all the mire of it, it’s really so uncomplicated it just takes a lot of drawing. RIght now I’m trying to see about an interface for everythin, but that a long stage goal once I have everyything in step then I’ll see about putting in the huge city interface in.

+BEHOLD GOBLIN COCK!

+Dragonbreath’s script is awesome right now and I’m really excited about gttting to draw it already, but again travel plans and such have hindering a bit so once I’m back i hope to get osme good chunky days of drawing.

+Remember the “Choose your Adventure” books? Here’s a sweet look at some of the Steve Jackson version that have come out in the past.

+Did you hear/read about this shit with WOTC and 4th edition licensing? I mean I really, really don’t care. I see why WOTC said what they said, and I understand the reaction, but c’mon folks, you don’t see it? If WOTC makes 4th edition and say companies are making supplements for it, wouldn’t it defeat the selling of 4th edition if those same companies keep producing 3.5 stuff? The whats the point? Now I dig what say Paizo is doing, and making they’re own brand while building on the 3.5 stuff, and it even looks hella good (especially with the Wayne Reynolds art) but really we shouldn’t worry as consumers, because it just means people will by working harder to get our buck, and as creators it just means we have more avenues to make and sell so much more.

+D&D Fundraising?

+ QUESTION: to all you folks out there, what is some of the music you guys like to put on during D&D? Sure we all like the LOTR soundtrack or the Conan soundtrack but what else? I use a lot of Iron Maiden, Rammstein, and other heavy but rhythmic stuff, something to signify battle. When I used to play as a kid, we would put on Slayer and Cannibal Corpse on for fight scenes. What do you guys like?

+ Reincarnation in D&D and:

Bard rock
+Video coverage on the upcoming 4th edition G4’s MMO report

Now to see if i can get home today!

FIREBALL FRIDAYS 4.18.08

Ah TKIF! (Thank KORD it’s friday!)

So been monkeying around a bit, looking through stack of old article ideas and campaign notes to se what else will be a feature for The Vomiting Dragon, and so soon I hope to have other features on here. NPC Thursdays is going storng hopefullly will ge the more managed to. But heres the thing: I am not to up to snuff on game mechanics all the time. Yeah a real ball buster right? So I’m looking for folks who may want to write up stuff for the Dragon, mostly looking for someone who can write up magic items, their characteristics and stats. I have ideas for Magic Items but obviously if you have stuff in your noggin to put up I’m more than glad, i just want to illustrate them while we put them up. Also for Monsters and PC Races but maybe even into NPCs, Feats, Etc. I fyou got any ideas reply to this psot or just hit me up with an email at secretmediagroup at gmail.com

+One of the cooler ways you can use a blog or this series of tubes for your RPG game is by recording sessions and such. Some of them become little stories with all so many details and others become full blown first person narratives and others devote whole blogs too, but all are great to read and sort educate yourself on other peoples games and how they do things.

+If your a world builder, and you know I am, check out this article on Spiral World Building over at Roleplaying Tips, which is a really cool and open way of making your gaming world start to take life.

+Great review of the new Pathfinder RPG Alpha book that came out, on RM’s rpg blog

+Fucking insane review of the olde Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom from 1993

NPC Thursdays: Borges the Baker

A Gift of the All-mother

“It as early morning on the street of Caltrop and Pike, and around them people went about their business. Store began to open, doors creaking and inviting the morning sun in, their owners out beating rugs and cleaning the street with a push broom. City guard walked down, starting their morning route through the city. Some walked with their small clubs twirling, giving a rap to the head of any beggars who were still on the street. Some of them even raised their hands in thanks and when on their way, a whole day of beggar business in front of them.
Meredith came walking don the street , now in here work uniform of green colored denim, her hair in a large bun. She was still putting pins in it as she went, her eyes half shut. Rattling with every movement was her belt, filed with oddities and various pouches, small sacks, and compartments, with the one thing standing out was a long stick in a type shoulder holster. The long piece of Rosewood, curled into it shaped seemed to have hair, golden locks woven into it, and stopped at sharp arrow pint shaped red crystal. All this was mounted on Meredith’s young body and the belt rattled on her wide hips, her thick rubber boots clunking away on the cobblestone.
“Hey Merry, how are you?”
Meredith looked as she fastened the last pin into her hair
“Good Morning Borges! how are you?” she said and looked up into the yellow door way. Their stood smoking a pip a large Half-orc, who was wide as he was large, covered in flour, on his face and belly, wearing a worn apron with multiple spots of food on them, he waved to Meredith as she passed
“Wait a tic girl, where are you going in such hurrah?” he said, a deep guttural voice that seemed more animal than humanoid. A deep oaken smell mixed with bread and sugar came out of the doorway, Meredith’s head and nose rose up instantly to catch the delicious tastes.
“Ah, wish I could stay and just smell those sweet breads of yours, Borges, but I’m late for work as is”
“Don’t be silly, girl” Borges came out again, this time with a box twined together in huge hand “You can take it with you!”
“Borges, thank you! I can’t believe this, how much do I owe you?” Meredith received her box of goodies with child like enthusiasm
“Nothing, Merry! After you fixed my stove and got the elemental in line it’s the least I can do for you!”
“Thank you Borges! Your just the All-Mothers Gift are you!” Meredith said leaning in, giving the hulking baker a kiss on the cheek a she left in trot down the street
“It’s nothing girl, you have good day, heh”
And if you doubted it for a second, yes, Half-orcs can blush.

About
Borges is a Half-orc with a good heart. After the war of Falling Sword, Borges could no longer take the ways of war anymore, and soon resigned himself away form the the battlefield. He was a brilliant scout and hisskill had earned him a great name, but he could no longer take the screams of the battlefield. He lived off of the bottle for some years after, becoming homeless and destitute. One days, to escape a horrid winter in Borel, he broke into one of the many stores on Pike Street. He son awoke, and found himself in daylight listening to singing. he turned to find a halfling rolling dough and greeting him in the morning. This wasBalbad the baker, an Halfling General of Trookel, who had become a baker. Balbad greeted him, fed him and soon Borges was renewed, and never touched the a drink again.
Balbad is retired now living with a son in southern island city of Veins, but has left the bakery in Borges well trained hands. Since then Borges has helped his community and his neighbors to make the Pike Street shops some of the best that can be found in Borel, especially with the sweets Borges makes, that some say, have certain spell-like effects.
Notes:
Borges can be looked at as a very minor character for nay campaign, somebody the PCs may occasionally but into and hear about his exploits. I like making characters like this to help flesh out places. Nothing is cooler when your players say “Hey lets go to that city, it has so-and-so there…”
